Private Aviation in 2020 in Spain. Part 3

Private aircraft departures recorded in Spain throughout 2020 have had an uneven evolution depending both on the Autonomous Region of origin of the flights and on the geographical area of destination.

Destinations in Asia together with those in North America have suffered the greatest decreases, with falls of -77.4% for the former and -65.5% for the latter. Nevertheless, there has been growth in flights to North America from Cantabria and Asturias. The significance is minimal, though, as these sectors account for only 0.11% and 0.84% of the total number of flights from Spain respectively.

Flights to the Caribbean are the least affected compared with 2019 figures, with a notable increase in flights from the Balearic Islands, with flights to Africa ranking second. As is the case in the rest of the continent, most private flights are to a European country. This segment represents 95.50% of the total number of private flights operated from Spain in 2020, although they have suffered a decrease of -25.7% compared to the number of departures in 2019.
