Worldwide Private Aviation in 2020. Part 2

In addition to the number of departures and their evolution over time, there is one piece of information that should be analysed regarding private aviation, as it may be particularly revealing. We are talking about the category of the aircraft operated, something that we might associate with the cabin class in standard commercial flights. This type of data can reveal important implicit information about the flight, the charterer, the purpose of the trip and the passengers’ motivation.

In some way, the category of the private aircraft operated indicates the purchasing power of the charterer, therefore the strength of the local market itself, and details about the route operated. This way, we can develop hypotheses, with a certain degree of judgement, by reviewing the share of each category in the different markets.

Once again, we can see how there is a huge disparity in the aircraft category data depending on the geographical area analysed. Thus, we can see how recorded departures with larger aircraft have fallen at a global level more than twice as much as those with smaller aircraft. It is also striking to see how the use and evolution of each category varies depending on the geographical area analysed.

So, once again, there are multiple possible interpretations of all this data.
