Private Aviation in 2020 in Spain. Part 7

In view of the data collected on the performance of private aviation in Spain in 2020 compared to 2019, it is possible to draw some important conclusions:

This sector in Spain was growing strongly before the appearance of SARS-CoV-2 and was showing a stronger performance than the rest of the world.

  • Spain gains relevance in the number of private aircraft movements during the summer months.
  • Private aviation in Spain was more affected than the rest of the world during the first few months of the pandemic and in autumn too.
  • The number of departures by private aircraft from Spain grew in December despite an overall fall around Europe and the rest of the world.
  • The most relevant airports coincide with the main tourist destinations in our country.
  • Domestic flights within the national network represent almost half of the total number of private flights registered throughout 2020.
  • According to AENA data, commercial flights’ departures in Spain fell by -60.35% in 2020 compared to 2019, while private aircraft saw a reduction of -27.2% in the number of departures during the same period.
